Fed: The pitfalls of carbon trading

CANBERRA, Jan 13 AAP - The idea of global carbon trading, which the Australian government
has abandoned, is a half-good way of curbing climate change by reducing greenhouse gas
emissions.
It's doubtful if it will ever get off the ground and, even if it does, it's full of pitfalls.
But it's still probably better than nothing and should, at least, save some forests
for a time while providing new opportunities to make money.
The idea is that polluters can buy credits, typically through buying the rights to
