WORKERS NEAR COMPLETION OF ROUTE 20 REPAIRS.(CAPITAL REGION)

GUILDERLAND -- Despite the damage left in the wake of Hurricane Floyd, Guilderland schools will reopen on schedule today.

Two lanes of Route 20, Guilderland's main thoroughfare, were washed away at midnight on Thursday. Since then, drivers have been rerouted around Route 20 between Willow Street and Route 146 to alternate roads.

Today, school buses will be the only vehicles allowed to slip through the detour and travel on Route 20.

However, by noon Wednesday the state plans to open the stretch of road to everyone. …
